Synopsis
High Seas, #1
David Fletcher needs a surgeon, stat! But when he captures a British merchantman in the Caribbean what he gets is Charley Alcott, an apprentice physician barely old enough to shave. Needs must, and Captain Fletcher takes the prisoner back aboard his ship with orders to do his best, or he'll be walking the plank.
Charley Alcott's medical skills are being put to the test in a life-or-death situation, Charley's life as well as the patient's. Even if she can save the pirate's brother there will still be hell to pay--and maybe a plank to walk--when Captain Fletcher learns Charley is really Charlotte Alcott.

I've always enjoyed reading "chicks in breeches" historicals, and researching 19th century medicine, the War of 1812, and a woman in disguise aboard ship was rewarding and made this book even more fun to write.It's the first in my "High Seas" series, and I hope you'll check out the other, connected novels in the series: Castaway Dreams, The Pirate's Secret Baby, and coming in 2019, What the Parrot Saw.
About the Author
Darlene Marshall writes award-winning historical romance, mostly about pirates, privateers, smugglers and the occasional possum. Her experience includes writing obituaries, broadcast news director, radio station owner, TV news producer, print and broadcast reporter. She's never been a pirate, but the day's not yet over.
