In a time where many view life as a series of continual tasks with few breaks, Creating a Pause, Changing an Ordinary Moment to the Sacred offers many examples of ways to enrich life by adding thoughtful activities that are neither labor-intensive nor expensive to transform an ordinary moment. When we can make a minor shift in a given moment, we can look back and see that the pause has created a touchstone where we can celebrate, heal, or reflect.

After growing up in Texas, Beverly and her husband Marty moved to Panama where they lived for over 25 years as educators for the Department of Defense Schools. In retirement, they moved to Sequim, Washington. Their home overlooks the Strait of Juan De Fuca, where the surrounding mountains and water give them pause to reflect on nature’s riches. Beverly loves being outdoors in her garden, or biking, kayaking, or playing pickleball. Yoga and meditation are daily practices. As often as possible, she enjoys family time with their two married children and their four granddaughters, who try to keep them up to date with technology. Beverly considers her friends and former students some of her richest blessings and has included some of their ideas in this book.
