Reviews

PreS. This concept book in the Harper Growing Tree series introduces the idea of opposites, using a lively, rhythmic chant, a simple story about making friends, and active pictures that show two toddlers getting to know each other ("Say hello and say goodbye and say hello again / Say goodbye and say hello and say goodbye again"). The sounds of the words add to the fun whether the kids are bouncing on the bed ("Jumping high and crouching low and jumping high again") or playing with bricks. Some illustrations may be a bit busy for this age group, but little ones will catch on as they copy what they see on the pages and join in the story. Hazel Rochman
