David and Jan Stoop are a dynamic, loving husband-and-wife team of 48 years. Both hold Ph.D.s and are licensed clinical psychologists in California. Together they have led seminars and retreats across the country, and in Europe, Asia, Australia, and South Africa, on topics such as marital relationships, parenting, men's issues, fathering, and forgiveness. They are founders of The Center for Family Therapy in Newport Beach, California, where they conduct their counseling practice. David Stoop is heard often as a co-host on the national radio program New Life Live, a daily one-hour call-in show heard on over 300 stations nationally as well as on XM satellite radio. Its weekly listening audience is more than 1 million. He is an adjunct professor at Fuller Seminary and serves on the executive board of the American Association of Christian Counselors. Together and individually the Stoops have authored more than 25 books, including Forgiving Our Parents, Forgiving Ourselves (A Gold Medallion finalist); The Spiritual Renewal Bible (a Gold Medallion winner); Forgiving the Unforgivable; When Couples Pray Together; The Complete Marriage Book; and Ten Minutes Together with God: A Devotional for Couples. David was executive editor of The Life Recovery Bible, a unique 12-step Bible that has sold more than 700,000 copies. David received a master's degree of theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. Jan received a master's degree in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the California Graduate Institute.
