Ingmar Bjorksten, Swedish critic and novelist, met Patrick White at White's home at Castle Hill in 1962. Bjorksten was so impressed by White's work that he campaigned to increase his international reputation. Bjorksten's efforts were influential in securing the Nobel Prize for Literature for Patrick White in 1973. The critical study by Bjorksten, written in Swedish, 'Patrick White: epikern fran Australien' ('Patrick White: A General Introduction') was published in the same year.
