Jody, the young son of the Blacks who ran the general store in Sleeman, saw and heard most things that went on. He knew but avoided the wild men from the Arrowhead, its owner Piggott, the vicious foreman Spanish Jack, and the hard, brawling riders who spread fear in the town. Arrowhead smashed those in its path - men were beaten, the Allott's barn was fired, but nobody dared offer any opposition. Yet both Jody and his father were drawn into the streets of blazing death.
