Synopsis
The Beaumont is New York City's top luxury hotel and one of the great hotels of the world. The manager of the Beaumont is Pierre Chambrun, the hard but just taskmaster who runs his enclave with the precision of a Swiss watch. Within this self-contained principality - with its own shops, restaurants and security system - Chambrun rules as circumstances dictate, with a gloved hand or a hand of steel. And as circumstances dictate Chambrun solves problems as a detective, judge, jury, or as an avenger. This time the Beaumont is afflicted by the most vicious of contemporary violences - an unknown boy, shot in the face and found floating in the swimming pool of the hotel's Health Club leads to a chain of horrors involving a male pop singer and his army of fans, a porno publisher, a famous evangelist and some ladies of the evening. Chambrun searches for a member of his trusted staff who has betrayed him.
