Synopsis
After receiving a four-month-old letter from his mother in which she asks for his help, Caleb McConnell heads home to Colorado. But along the trail an attempt is made on his life, and Caleb begins to understand something of his parents' troubles. Why is someone after his folks' ranch, and who is behind it? When Caleb finally reaches Del Norte, childhood friendships are renewed, old grudges re-hashed, and guns blaze across the Rio Grande Valley as the mystery unfolds.

About the Author
In 1980, with awife and two young children, Steve moved his family to Casper, Wyoming,finding work in the oilfields.While living in Casper, the familytraveled throughout Wyoming, visiting such places as YellowstoneNational Park, The Tetons, Devil's Tower National Monument and areasalong the Oregon Trail, such as Independence Rock and Devil's Gate.They also visited Deadwood and Mount Rushmore National Memorial, bothlocated in the beautiful Black Hills near Rapid City, South Dakota.
Being an avid hunter and fisherman, he again could be found roaming the pine and aspen-covered mountains with fabled names like The BigHorns,The Sweetwater Range and The Pedro Mountains; fishing the riversand streams called The North Platte River, The Sweetwater River and TheMiddle Fork of the Powder River, as well as many others. Little did heknow he was walking upon much of the country of which he wouldeventually write.
