From School Library Journal:
YA Described as an "intellectual dance band," the Talking Heads have recently encountered more popular recognition with the release of their film, Stop Making Sense. For this analysis, Gans has compiled information from numerous print sources and broadcast interviews. He provides narrative but little interpretation of material. He essentially allows the band to relate its own story. From the band's 1977 debut right up to their latest album, Little Creatures , and their current film, Gans provides a full account. Some songs from each album are highlighted with band members commenting on their feelings about that particular song and providing some insight into its evolution. The text is accompanied by black-and-white photos, a complete discography and a list of sources. Talking Heads fans will appreciate what this book has to offer. Elizabeth Thurston, PGCMLS, Md.

From Library Journal:
This may not be the book Talking Heads fans have been waiting for, but it is a good introduction to the band and its music. Gans follows the group from its formation in 1975 through the release of the 1985 Little Creatures album. He relies heavily upon contemporary interviews and reviews, making this more historical document than critical history. The thorough discography includes U.S. and foreign releases of albums and singles, production and session work on other artist's records, and a list of videos. Recommended. Mark H. Sullivan, Univ. of Detroit Lib.
