Synopsis
In the second half of the 19th century a group of artists burst onto the British art scene and created a graphic revolution. Collectively, they became known as the Pre-Raphaelites. Their influence on the Victorian Age was uncalculable. In this unique work, the author sets out to survey almost 500 ilustrations created by the Pre-Raphaelites. The first part introduces the character of Pre-Raphaelite art, and influences on the book arts. Part two is short biographies of this elite group. Part three is a complete catalog of every known illustration. This book is an excellent reference volume and introduction into the world of the Pre-Raphaelites' literary illustrations. Co-published with The British Library.
