Margaret Yorke was awarded the 1999 Cartier Diamond Dagger. She has been Chairman of the CWA and is a member of the Detection Club. She is the author of over 40 novels and numerous short stories.
A well-to-do couple's grown daughter disappears one night on the way home from choir practice. Right away you suspect the jealous and criminally inclined older adopted brother; all clues point that way--or do they? The case remains unsolved for years, and, in a way, this is more a study of the toll this tragedy takes on the family and their friends than a murder mystery. It is a well-done psychological study. David Collins has a fine and pleasant voice. He creates a personality for each character and, whether anxious, stern, or kindly, keeps them all right on the money. This adds greatly to the enjoyment of listening. You come to know and understand each member of the cast very well. D.G. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine

The author is a past Chairman of the Crime Writers' Association and this title was first published also in 1990. It is the story of a missing heiress who was presumed abducted, after her car and handbag were found abandoned, now twelve years later Detective Superintendent Marsh returns to the district where he had worked on the case as a young sergeant. The girl's body had never been found and he is determined to re-open the case and when his enquiries leads him to the one person who holds the key, a terrifying chain of events are set in motion and for the girl's family it might have been better if the past had remained buried and the mystery left unsolved. **** NOT EX LIB **** C3C Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
