9780712677103: The Secrets of Nostradamus

Synopsis

This important new translation is the first to decode the occult symbolism--and thus the true prophesies--of Nostradamus. Nostradamus is the most celebrated clairvoyant in Western history; it is surprising, therefore, that neither his astrological systems nor his arcane literary methods have ever been analyzed accurately. Now, it has been discovered that Nostradamus was working in an occult code called the Green Language--a code that has been broken by a contemporary master working in the same ancient tradition. In so doing, David Ovason has at last deciphered Nostradamus' true prophesies. He reveals that not only are the predictions startlingly different than previously believed, but that the astrological data they contain can be verified--in many cases to the very day--using computer technology. Here, over a hundred prophesies made by Nostradamus are detailed, all of them fulfilled exactly. David Ovason is the author of Wonders of the Ancient World, Sites of Mystery and Imagination, Mysterious Britain, and The Encyclopedia of Secret Knowledge. 512 pp 6 x 9 55 b/w illustrations

About the Author

David Ovason has spent more than a decade researching the architecture and zodiacs of Washington, D.C. He teaches astrology and has studied the life and writings of Nostradamus for more than forty years. He is the author of several books, including The Secrets of Nostradamus and Nostradamus: Prophecies for America. Mr. Ovason lives and works in England.

From Publishers Weekly

Little is known about his life, yet the 16th-century French mystic Michel Nostradamus easily remains the most famous prophet in Western history; his enigmatic prophecies, which baffled and frustrated his contemporary clients, have awed and intrigued generations of followers. But according to Ovason (The Secret Architecture of Our Nation's Capital), who has studied Nostradamus for some 40 years, no one has yet successfully penetrated the secrets contained in the prophecies. Because of Nostradamus's deeply arcane approach (including obscure astrological methods and the use of an esoteric code known as the "Green Language"), Ovason argues, the oracles can be understood only through a laborious decryption process. Ovason's technique largely consists of attempting to crack the code at the syllabic levelAhunting down missing vowels, extra consonants, hidden acronyms; even a comma may have a secret agenda. Under this unbearable linguistic pressure, two lines of prophecy rapidly unfold into 20 pages of exegesis more byzantine and torturedAand even less believableAthan its subject. Painstakingly assembled, Ovason's interpretations can be credited only with being at least as farfetched and imaginative as his predecessors'. Furthermore, readers seeking to know what the Nostradamian future really holds will be disappointed, since Ovason firmly maintains that the prophecies are so deeply coded they can really only be accurately deciphered after they are fulfilled. Still, some readers truly committed to the Nostradamus cult will battle their way through Ovason's labored readings; for the rest, the secrets of the future will have to remain forever shrouded in the seer's memory. 25-city radio campaign.
