This is a well-researched book on the tools and accessories used for needlework of all kinds throughout history, with comment on how changing social and economic times affected this realm. Not a specific price guide, it is instead a general overall history enhanced by illustrations. Proctor covers early needles (for all types of needlework), needle cases, thimbles, scissors, threads, thread boxes, measures and gauges, clamps, darning and mending apparatus, and assorted fasteners. Little has been published on the history of this ever-popular area of collecting, so there may be a built-in audience for this book. Recommended for larger library collections.
