Originally published as Das Buch Vom Opfer, by Siegfried Engelhardt Verlag, Berlin 28 (Frohnau) - English translation 1968, First UK edition was 1968, and this specific book was reprinted in 1973. No aspect of chess holds more fascination for the player than the sacrifice. Yet few have a detailed understanding of its fundementals, so that the art of sacrifice is commonly held to be a nebulous talent, personal to the individual player and not susceptible to logical analysis. Vladimir Vukovic sets out to remedy this by examining the nature of sacrifice and the foundations on which it is based, approaching the subject from every angle. A truly interesting book and definitely one for the home library. Seller Inventory # 373
