Content has been regularly revised, updated, and reorganized, shifting away from the dominant focus on the horse still so relevant in the early editions. With the 18th edition, the range of animals and topics widens further to embrace more detailed legislation, equine motor neuron disease, predetermining the sex of calves and tarantulas.
