A treasure trove of recipes for making a wealth of items, this book contains projects ranging from bellropes, key fobs and fenders to mats, doorstops, knife lanyards and belts. Along with the background to many projects and guidance as to how they can be the starting point for many other items, there is a step-by-step breakdown of how to put these knots together as well as the size and lengths of the materials required - just as you would expect from a recipe book.

Des Pawson has been a professional ropeworker for more than 25 years. His passion for knots goes back to the time when, aged 7, he was given a book of knots; he has studied knots and sailors' ropework ever since. He teaches and demonstrates his skills at boat shows, festivals, museums and galleries in the UK, the Netherlands, France and the USA, and has clients all over the world. His work has been featured on television, radio and in many magazines and newspapers worldwide. In 1982 he co-founded the International Guild of Knot Tyers. He is currently the 'face' of the International Festival of the Sea, held in Edinburgh in May 2003.
