Review

...a well-detailed, professional and much-improved second edition. (The Ensign)

A great book for a beginner as well as the veteran...should be part of every boating library. (Sea)

The second edition of Using GPS by Conrad Dixon is so straightforward that anyone who has the time to read the book slowly and digest the information should be more comfortable with the GPS.

In this 100-page book, the author covers everything from buying a GPS unit to planning a trip by using a waypoint directory stored in the unit s memory. Along the way, he throws in informative tidbits for the more technically minded those who have mastered using a GPS unit.

The book also provides good, practical advice about navigating with the GPS, especially for the novice, including how to pick a waypoint that is a mile or more away from reefs or headlands. ...Problem solving, signal status and storing a position are all covered in the book.

With this introduction to the GPS, a boater who hasn t mastered latitude and longitude coordinates and waypoints should feel a little more comfortable with the modern world of technology. (Offshore Magazine)
