"Green Henry" is a vivid and absorbing representation of Gottfried Keller's ideals and philosophy, written in poetic language and a realistic style that documents the emergence of an artist and the development of a man. About the Author:
Keller was considered by many to be the preeminent Swiss writer. Gottfried was born in Zurich in 1819. In 1834, he was expelled from school and pursued an abortive career as a painter. His first poems were published in 1846 in Zurich, where he was appointed Clerk to the Canton in 1861. He died in Zurich in 1890.
