Synopsis
Incorporating both drawing and watercolour media, the author starts by leading readers through a series of examples and exercises that will introduce them to the equipment and techniques needed for landscapes. The author then examines a series of landscape-based themes in detail, showing the problems that can be encountered, and offering ingenious solutions. Each theme starts by demonstrating the basic marks and brushstrokes required for that subject, then sets out a series of problem-and-solution pages that are packed with useful tips on how to paint those subjects and avoid the common pitfalls. Each of these themes concludes with a step-by-step demonstration in a chosen medium to pull all the points covered in the theme together in practice.

About the Author
Trudy Friend is an experienced and accomplished artist and teacher who runs specialist courses in all media. Her special passion for drawing and watercolour painting led her to devise the highly popular Problems and Solutions' column for the UK's Leisure Painter magazine on which this, and her previous titles, are based. She has also written for The Artist and Artists and Illustrators magazines, and lives in Monmouthshire, Wales.
