Favourites such as Irish brown bread, soda bread and scones are included along with recipes for fruit breads, cakes, biscuits, puddings, pies and savoury dishes. Many of the recipes in this collection have been made in Irish homes for hundreds of years and the author has included recipes that were made for certain feasts and days such as Boxty, traditionally server on All Saints Day, or Barm Brack, eaten on 1 February (St Brigid s Day) and on Hallow een. Ruth Isabel Ross is author of the 'Irish Oatmeal Cookbook' and 'Irish Family Food'. She is also a well-known writer on country matters and on gardening and flowers in particular and lives in County Wicklow.
