John Moorhouse Bsc. PhD. Grad. B.H.I. was born in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire into a family of engineers. He has had a lifetime interest in the restoration of clocks and furniture. He graduated as a watchmaker, passing the examination of the British Horological Institute with merit. In 1995 he won the Julius Isaacs prize of the B.H.I. for the best practical piece submitted in recent years in all grades of student. Dr Moorhouse is a professional restorer of antique clocks and watches, and a registered silversmith. He lives in the West Midlands.
