Synopsis
After her husband was killed in action in 1914, Mollie Stack began to develop her pioneering theories about exercise, which led in 1930 to her establishing Britain's Women's League of Health and Beauty. When Mollie died prematurely in 1935, Prunella, then only twenty, continued her mother's work. By the end of the decade the League was a national institution with 166,000 members and international links. It continues to flourish today.

She also tells the story of the League from its inception. Mollie Stack, as she was known, moved from Dublin to London and studied physical education. She developed pioneering theories about exercise, which led in 1930 to the establishment of the League - which became her life's work (a role Prunella assumed after Mollie's death in 1935). The League had 166,000 members and branches around the world. Includes 10 b&w photographs. Ours is a former private library copy with 'ex libris' stickers to endpapers.
