One of a series of pre-readers designed for pre-school children who are ready to read. A brief text is given for the parent to read aloud and the child reads a simple phrase or sentence using either key words or context related words which are illustrated to assist them. The series links with the Ladybird reading schemes and the supplementary readers "Read it yourself". The series extends the successful formula behind "Read it Yourself", where traditional familiar stories are used to encourage children to learn to read. In the "Read Together" series traditional songs and playground rhymes are used. This series of supplementary pre-readers can be used in conjunction with any other reading scheme and fits into the Ladybird reading range.

Laminated Hardcover Full Gloss. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. Stephen Holmes (illustrator). ## The Ladybird Book Series: Old Macdonald's Farm by Hy Murdock 1993 Read Together Series ~#~ THIS BOOK: Classified as FINE: This is a 1993 edition. Pages have no scribbling. The cover is full colour, glossy and laminated. The Illustrations are excellent throughout the book by Stephen Holmes. This book is as new as you can get, except the inside of the back cover looks as though glue caught the page at the manufacturing stage, and when opened, it got torn slightly at the bottom; I can't see anything else that may have done that. ## ## The Read Together series helps to develop simple pre-reading skills. Based on well-known nursery rhymes and games, the books use Key Words and phrases which children will meet in later reading. Old Macdonald's farm will help children develop left-to-right eye movement and to perceive differences in word and letter shapes. Full colour artwork provides picture clues for new words. ## ## A recommendation is that the parent or teacher read this book aloud to the child and then go through the story with the child reading the text. ## ~##~ PLEASE NOTE: Dates in Ladybird Book can be deceiving; *FIRST EDITION*, in general, will be printed on the heel of the free endpaper opposite the title page and will say First Edition. Also, ISBN Numbers started in 1967, and Decimalisation was on 15 February 1971. Dates can be in numerals or Roman: i.e. MMX =1900. ## ### Here are the Ladybird Books we have all grown up with, and some new ones too. I know thousands of children worldwide enjoy these marvellous books. If it is a First Edition, it doesn't mean it's worth a fortune; it is the rareness and condition of any book for a high retail value. It is noticeable how the insides of these books stay clean. In general, the dust jacket and the hardcover take the wear. ### ~#~ YOU MAY FIND THIS INTERESTING: The company originated in 1867 when Henry Wills opened a bookshop in Loughborough, Leicestershire. He progressed to printing and publishing guidebooks and street directories within a decade. William Hepworth joined him in 1904, and the company traded as Wills & Hepworth. ## ## By August 1914, Wills & Hepworth had published their first children's books under the Ladybird imprint. Initially, the company was identified by a Ladybird logo, with open wings, but eventually changed to the more familiar closed-wing Ladybird in the late 1950s. The ladybird logo has since undergone several redesigns, the latest of which launched in 2006. ## #### INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Please Note. FREE SHIPPING IS UK ONLY.
