Review
Even though many of the stretches you see in exercise manuals are based on yoga movements, yoga itself is a way of life that transcends gym culture. This book, which is written with the earnestness of a true believer, serves as a good introduction to that life. As the author points out, there's a lot more to it than tying your body in knots. She discusses the history, religious roots and divergent philosophies, and eventually gets to the stuff that usually comes to mind when we think of yoga--relaxation, breathing, physical postures.
