About the Author:
Beatrix Potter is one of the world's best-loved children's authors of all time. From her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902) she went on to create a series of stories based around animal characters including Mrs Tiggy-winkle, Mr Jeremy Fisher and Tom Kitten. Her humorous, lively tales and beautiful illustrations have become a natural part of childhood.A source of inspiration was the Lake District where she lived for the last thirty years of her life as a farmer and conservationist.
From School Library Journal:
Grade 1-3 This is not the beloved story with its classic illustrations, but a bumper book of related activities: information about Potter and her work, secret codes, a scavenger hunt, puzzles and games, recipes, sewing instructions, quizzes, riddles, and even a reusable calendar. It's an interesting compendium, varied, attractive, and true to its origins. However, its potential audience is difficult to identify, since children likely to enjoy the stories will be too young for most of the activities. Where the books are used in the classroom, this could be a useful source of supplementary projects. Overall, it is probably most suitable as a gift book for an individual Potter fan, rather than an essential purchase for library shelves.
