Review

Perk up those ears to the sounds of Peter Rabbit munching crunchy veggies, Babbity Bumblebee buzzing through the air, and goldfish splish-sploshing in the pond. For the youngest readers, this little board book with its rounded corners, pastel colors, and familiar creatures will make a big splash. Each of the six two-page spreads reveals a new animal with accompanying brief text: "A little mouse is scurrying along. Eeek! Eeek! Eeek!" Kids can make the eeking, buzzing, tweeting sounds themselves or wait for the last page, which holds the biggest, noisiest surprise of all: the sound of Peter Rabbit snoring. A tiny chip in the back of the book is triggered when the final page is opened to an image of everyone's favorite naughty rabbit, sound asleep. This entertaining book is based on the classic stories by Beatrix Potter (The Tale of Peter Rabbit, etc.), and is a good companion to Hop! Peter Rabbit. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter
