Synopsis
This book has been prepared by the research chemists and engineers of the Agricultural Division of Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI). It aims to record the store of knowledge accumulated by the company in the commercial use of a large scale of tis catalysts in its own factories and customers plants, including 300 licensed plants overseas.
This book deals with heterogenous catalysis by solids, and its material is drawn almost entirely from the science and technology of the unit processes used in ammonia and hydrogen manufacture.
Rapidly growing demand for fertilizers,, and the success of the ICI steam-naphtha reforming process, have resulted in the construction of hundreds of new chemical plants. We now know enough about the shape and function of chemical entrepreneurs to make possible a rational approach to their design and use, and this book will give every catalyst user a handy source of practical information and an intelligent appreciation of the nature of the tools he employs.
