About the Author

Professor Emeritus Coleman O Flaherty, A Fellow of the ICE, The Institution of Civil Engineers, previously a lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Leeds, UK, Coleman has since been to Australia as Chief Engineer at the National Capital Development Commission in Canberra. He is a member of the Order of Australia for his services to education and community and a recipient of the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws.

Dr. David Hughes acquired his PhD from University of Nottingham, UK, in Pavement Engineering and has seen been a director of Education and a Senior Lecturer on Highways and Geotechnics at Queen s University, Belfast. David also features as editor of the Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrology (QJEGH).
