About the Author

Pamela Oldfield's books have been translated into Spanish, German and Russian. Her adult novels are described as a blend of historical fiction and family saga, each one thoroughly researched with the help of her husband, Joseph, who photographs and videos the various locations necessary for the backgrounds.

From Booklist

After marrying handsome, rich Lloyd Massie, Bella thought she was the luckiest woman in London. Everything about her new life seems perfect until Bella begins to think that Lloyd might not be the kind, loving man with whom she first fell in love. London police detective sergeant Douglas Unwin also suspects that Lloyd Massie is not the man he claims to be. Unwin believes Bella's husband is connected to at least one murder, if not more, but with all of London's police caught up in the hunt for Jack the Ripper, Unwin lacks the official resources needed to pursue his investigation of Lloyd. As Bella begins fear for both her safety and that of her cousin Lottie, Unwin puts into place his plan to catch Lloyd before he can kill again. Readers who enjoy mysteries set in Victorian London will especially appreciate Oldfield's skillful re-creation of that time and place in this quietly chilling novel of historical suspense.
