Synopsis

This is an epic fantasy of politics and magic, history and truth. The Isles of Glory, caught in a maelstrom, will never be the same again. Blaze and Flame have fled Gorthan Spit and are now hunting for Morthred. Blaze and Flame know that any confrontation with the most accomplished and dangerous sorcerer known to the Glory Isles is just as likely to end in their deaths. But Morthred's ancient spell over the Dustel Islanders must be reversed, or all of the Glory Isles are at risk. Gilfeather has been banished by his people and is unwittingly caught up in Blaze and Flame's dangerous quest. He finds himself hard put just to stay alive as they brave the unknown in search of their quarry. Although Morthred seems to be always one step ahead, Blaze is relentless in her pursuit, even when it becomes clear that something is wrong with Flame. But what? And can she still be trusted?

From the Author

Kelwyn Gilfeather is a favourite character of mine: conflicted and tragic, he suddenly finds himself in a world he doesn't believe in, falling in love with a woman who loves someone else. He is a pacifist and a healer, yet he has to murder. He is a scientist, yet he finds himself in a struggle with the supernatural. Tragic he may be, but Gilfeather is also capable of great courage and resilience...

About the Author

Glenda Larke is an Australian who now lives in Malaysia where she works on the two great loves of her life: writing fantasy and the conservation of rainforest avifauna. She has also lived in Tunisia and Austria, and has at different times in her life worked as a housemaid, library assistant, school teacher, university tutor, medical correspondence course editor, field ornithologist and designer of nature interpretive centres. Along the way she has taught English to students as diverse as Korean kindergarten kids and Japanese teenagers living in Malaysia, Viennese adults in Austria and engineering students in Tunis. If she has any spare time (which is not often), she goes birdwatching; if she has any spare cash (not nearly often enough), she visits her daughters in Scotland and Virginia and her family living in Western Australia. She has four published novels to her credit, and another trilogy, "The Mirage Makers", due to be published in 2006-7.
