Synopsis
Once upon a time it was dark at night and the animals couldn't see a thing. They ask the sun for help and he presents them with a wonderful surprise, a beautiful crescent moon that grows larger and rounder night by night. At first the animals are grateful, but soon they start taking the sun's gift for granted. Hurt and angry, the sun takes the moon away, then reconsiders, and comes up with a way to light the night for the animals that will always remind them to appreciate his generosity.Coby Hol has created a sweet, simple picture book that introduces very young children to the waxing and waning of the moon and offers a gentle reminder to all to value Nature's gifts.

About the Author
Coby Hol was born in Leiden in the Netherlands and studied painting and drawing at the Dutch Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Since graduation, she has taught drawing and various crafts, primarily to young children. She use many techniques in her work, including torn and cut paper, spattered ink, and watercolor.
