One sunny spring day Bunny hops up to a young chicken and asks her to lay an egg for him. She protests, saying she's too young, but she wants to help. Unfortunately, her ideas are quite absurd, leading them on a hilarious but futile quest around the farm.

Kirkus Reviews A quirky chicken and a bespectacled bunny undertake a comic quest for Bunny's last (critically needed) egg. Young listeners are likely to giggle at the idea of a chicken asking a horse to lay an egg for her. (The same request is also made of a busy pig, a fluffy sheep, a grazing cow and a mole with apparently the same eye doctor as the bunny.) Even adults will be amused by the rib-tickling illustrations, in soft-focus watercolor. The hungry wolf who chases this odd couple has a pot belly, a wild hair-don't and a goofy walk. And the needy bunny wears an orange outfit with a culotte skirt and enormous pointed shoes that match. At the end of the tale, a coop of colorful chickens gently delivers the chicken an important message on self-esteem. An entertaining and educational tale for the very young, though the text is merely functional.
