About the Author:
Kathleen W Deady is a Capstone Press author.
From Booklist:
Gr. 2-4. This entry in the Fact Finders: American Colonies series does a competent job in an attractive format. Following information about the American Indians that lived in the area for thousands of years, the book moves swiftly to a discussion of European settlers. The Colonial Life section examines work and trade, education, community, and faith. Each topic gets just a paragraph or two, so the text is undeniably brisk; but solid information is conveyed, if not always fully explained. The colorful paintings and historic pictures extend the text, as do several maps. Boxes marked "Fact!" are so brief that they seem unnecessary. The appended material includes Fast Facts, a time line, a glossary, a reference to the publisher's FactHound Web site, and a three-title bibliography of Capstone and Rourke books. The series currently encompasses all 13 colonies. Ilene Cooper
