Gr 3-5-In order to write a book report, students must know how to choose a book, what to write about, and what to highlight. This title tells them all that and more. Unfortunately, the writing is not always clear. Voth jumps around quite a bit, and includes "First-Timer's Tips" and "Creative Corner" advice that distract from what she is trying to convey. Also, very little consideration is given to classroom teachers' possible variations on a theme. Black-and-white cartoons do not add much to the presentation. The glossary, however, is useful, and the lists of Caldecott and Newbery winners are helpful. There is also a listing of what the Dewey classification numbers mean and some information about the Library of Congress. All in all, however, there is little here that is new or enlightening.-Karen Scott, Valley Intermediate School, Pelham, AL
