Grade 9 Up-The phrase "one picture is worth a 1000 words" aptly describes the political cartoon, a powerful medium that has often been used for propaganda. Although brief, this book is a good introduction to the topic. Each chapter contains a preface, followed by an assortment of political cartoons with a background paragraph about the featured cartoon and the artist. This is a useful source for providing comments on past events, and a potential teaching tool for developing critical-thinking skills.
