About the Author

Kristina T. Klassen, M. S. Mrs. Klassen earned a B.A. in Psychology at UCLA in 1967 and an M.S. in Applied Psychology: Community College Teaching Emphasis from Eastern Washington University in 1995.Teaching awards she has received include the North Idaho College Faculty Achievement Award, the North Idaho College Associated Students Faculty Award (2 years), the North Idaho College Athletic Department Award of Appreciation, and the Paladin s Award from an NIC student club.Over the past 43 years she has developed courses and taught students from kindergarten through graduate school. John Klassen, M. A. T. Mr. Klassen earned a B.A. in Mathematics at the University of British Columbia in 1968, a Secondary Teaching Certificate from the University of Idaho in 1992, and an M.A.T. in Mathematics from the University of Idaho in 2001.Teaching awards he has received include the North Idaho College Faculty Achievement Award (2 years), the Phi Theta Kappa Outstanding Faculty Award, the North Idaho College Associated Students Faculty Award (2 years), the North Idaho College Athletic Department Award of Appreciation, and the Professional Technical Department Teaching Award. Together, they share their 73 years of combined teaching experience in workshops on memory & study to North Idaho College peer tutors and to the NIC student body on a regular basis. Their book, Study Sense: What Memory Research Tells Us About Studying in College is in its third edition. It is the result of over 20 years of research, their own academic challenges in college and those they have observed in their students. The Klassens live in Hayden, Idaho and are currently tenured faculty members at North Idaho College.
