Bankruptcy of Wade Elliot's home building company was traumatic for him but a blessing in disguise. His Atlanta attorney introduced Wade to Molly Forrest, a socialite divorcee, who owned Forrest Glen, a large home place in Winston-Salem that abutted the palatial home of R. J. Reynolds, founder of Reynolds Tobacco Company. It was part of Molly's recent divorce settlement, and she needed a competent builder to evaluate its potential as her permanent residence. Now without a source of income, Wade consented and traveled with Molly to inspect the home, built in 1921, believing the job would only require three days.

Upon arrival, a bizarre twist of events ensued, including an assassination attempt on Molly. Equally strange was the unique relationship that developed between them. Wade fell in love with Forrest Glen, and also became Molly's protector, mentor, inspiration and much more as their fates evolved during the next two years.

About the Author

Golf, fishing, traveling and tinkering were welcomed changes to Garland Ladd upon retiring, but fell short of satisfying creative urges. His career as a Professional Engineer offered many opportunities for creative expression; designing, building and guiding projects to completion had creative aspects, as did directing the engineering efforts of a large corporation.

After a tentative stab at writing about his early life, a plot quickly evolved and Ladd was totally hooked on writing fiction. Now a passion, he has written ten suspense novels during the past six years. Seemingly never without a plot, he continues with other interests and his writing usually occurs before the rooster crows - - between three and eight AM - - and then it's off to the golf course.

Born in Danville, VA, veteran of WW II, BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech in '51. Ladd and his wife, the former Sara Watson, have three children and two grandchildren.
