The author attended a one-room mountain school as a boy in the early 1940's. After retiring he taught adults how to read. The Master Poet was written based upon these experiences. Later, he worked with international students and wrote a Guide to the Pronunciation of American English. He has used his Guide to teach conversational English in seven different foreign countries as well as in the United States.
