DAVID ROTHBART was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on April 22, 1916, the second of four children. He graduated from Delaware Valley College in Bucks County, PA, majoring in horticulture. Inducted into the Army on February 14, 1942, he served in the European Theater of Operations, landing in Normandy, France, shortly after D-Day. He was awarded the Bronze Star with five battle stars and was honorably discharged form the Army on September 28, 1945, with the rank of sergeant. After the war he became a successful businessman, retiring after thirty years in the furniture business. He has been married to the former Dorothy Perlis for over fifty years. The Rothbarts live in Pittsburgh and have three daughters and nine grandchildren.
