Reviews

Christopher Rice's latest novel is a gritty story of one Iraq War veteran's thirst for revenge. John Houck returns home, angry and sorrowful over his failure to protect a fellow Marine. Then he discovers that his former captain has been murdered. Now he must protect the captain's secret gay lover and teach him to kill. With such a commanding story, narrator Frederick Weller delivers a stunning performance, delving deeply into each character with an expert reading. The characters are vastly different from one another but equally realistic and honest. Weller's tones and accents are colorful and original, his delivery as solid as they come.
