Sent to his uncle's castle for a year to learn ten-year-old Toby keeps a journal of everything that happens there from such great events as a boar hunt and a tournament to more everyday activities like baking bread and cleaning out the garderobes (toilets). The book also contains a reference section covering castle-building and use, armour and weapons, heraldry and the feudal system.

About the Author

Richard Platt is also the author of Pirate Diary, Roman Diary and Egyptian Diary. Pirate Diary won the Kate Greenaway Medal, the Silver Smarties Book Prize and the Blue Peter Award for Best Factual Book.
