Synopsis
A sparkling and beautifully illustrated edition of one of the most famous and best-loved nonsense rhymes of all. The Owl and the Pussycat is perhaps the most popular of Edward Lear's classic nonsense verses. Generations of children and adults have delighted in the epic sea voyage of these two courteous lovers and their eventual marriage on the island of the bong tree; in the piggy-wig and his ring, the turkey vicar and the wedding feast eaten with runcible spoons. There have been several illustrated versions of the poem, but few have caught so perfectly the silliness and spirit of the master of nonsense. Louise Voce's ebullient pictures are filled with an infectious vitality and reveal an eye for the absurd that is a joy to behold.

About the Author
Louise Voce says of her illustrations in The Owl and Pussycat, "Some of the scenery was inspired by a trip to Turkey, but also very much by memories of being on the seashore near Liverpool with my Grandmother, early on summer mornings. Puffin Island in North Wales also appears in the background!" Louise's illustrations have appeared in many publications, including The Sunday Times Magazine and Radio Times, as well as on greetings cards. For Walker Books she has illustrated Hello, Goodbye; Over in the Meadow and What Newt Could Do for Turtle. Louise lives in Brighton.
