Synopsis

Jung was by temperament sympathetic to the Eastern attitude of introversion and to the idea of 'the God inside'. He understood the Eastern emphasis on detachment and inner vision, and his lifelong interest in Eastern religion and philosophy is clear from his earliest work. This selection presents extracts from Jung's writings on the philosophy and culture of Asia.
Opening with his commentary on The Secret of the Golden Flower, the book includes his psychological commentaries on The Tibetan Book of the Dead and The Tibetan Book of the Great Liberation; his famous foreword to the I Ching; an evaluation of a translation of the Discourses of the Buddha; and an essay written to introduce a collection of the teachings of Shri Ramana Maharshi.
