Synopsis
Proud, arrogant Maxwell Tremayne is Judith’s golden god. But she is only a farmer’s daughter, and knowing he loves someone else, she leaves Cornwall for her grandmother’s home in Norfolk to try to forget him.
After her grandmothers death, Judith returns home, finding Max jilted and distraught Almost contemptuously, he proposes marriage to provide an heir for Tremayne Heights.
Though he doesn’t love her, and badly fearing childbirth, Judith hides her true feelings and agrees to marry him. Later, Max grows bitter as she miscarries time and again. They grow farther apart when his brother and his family arrive from America. Max now regards his young nephew as his heir.
Old secrets arc still to be revealed, and when Judith thinks all hope for her marriage is gone, a tragic twist of fate changes everything, and at last her greatest dreams are realized.
