Reviews

Gr 5-8-- More than just a beginner's guide to the electronic keyboard, this book is filled with introductory information, both how to play the instrument and general facts about it. There are diagrams; musical exercises; and complete directions on fingering, rhythm, legato and staccato; and many other aspects of technique. Also included are tunes, classical music, duets, and Christmas carols to play. Unfortunately, the colorful cartoon figures that dot each page give the book a primary-grade look, while the content is geared to older children. There is a lot of material on each page, which at times appears cluttered, and some of the British terms are not defined. However, considering the popularity of this musical instrument, this title may be in demand. An adequate addition. --Beth Tegart, Oneida City Schools, NY
