Synopsis
In The West, Eddie Stack evokes life in a series of cinematic prose portraits of people, places and situations. Several stories from this collection have been republished in newspapers, magazines and anthologies in the United States and Europe. "Rooted in the soil and soul of the west of Ireland, Eddie Stack's first collection of stories reflects the rough beauty of his homeland...He chronicles life in the west in a vivid, compassionate, authentic voice, thereby securing a place in the celebrated tradition of his country's storytelling." New York Times Book Review "There's a genuinely wild and fugitive comic sence in these tales that puts one in mind of Myles na Gopaleen as much as the salt spume dam, George Makay Brown...The fantastical and the everyday combine with wit, sharpness and brio." The Observer
