A unique, international source of authoritative reference and instruction for the professional and the student on the formulation, manufacture and testing of printing inks, this manual is the fifth edition of this highly acclaimed work. In print for over thirty years, The Printing Ink Manual, published on behalf of the Society of British Printing Ink Manufacturers, is the industry 'bible' for all printing ink technologists, manufacturers, packaging and publishing printers all over the world and is referred to on a daily basis. Thoroughly revised and updated throughout, the new material reflects the substantial developments that have taken place in the past five years, including the dramatic expansion in the use of lithographic inks with particular attention to cold-set and heat-set, sheet-fed and web offset and metal decorating inks... the use of flexographic inks in newspaper printing... ink-jet inks: a new detailed chapter has been added... the most recent theories of high-speed measurements in the rheology of inks... the European Quality Assurance Standard ISO 9000... and Health, Safety and the Environment: the latest legislation. Further features include a listing of all the raw materials used regularly in the manufacture of printing inks, giving full information on their physical and chemical properties. Formulation technology is fully illustrated with practical examples. The nineteen contributors, three editors and two editors-in-chief are all industry professionals and experts in their areas. As a practical reference source, the excellence of the reputation of The Printing Ink Manual is unsurpassed.
