About the Author
Ruth Starke worked in public relations and travel marketing before turning to fiction writing in 1992. She has since published nine novels for young people. Ruth is completing a doctorate at Flinders University, where she teaches English and Creative Writing. She is chair of the SA Writer's Centre, has been a judge of the National Festival Awards for Children's Literature since 1995 and writes and reviews for the Australian Book Review and Viewpoint. ILLUSTRATORBIO: Tom Jellett is already familiar to After Dark readers through his haunting illustrations in The Barn and The Crow.
