Richard Tames has a Master's Degree in politics form Birkbeck College, London, and was formerly the Secretary to the Council of the Hansard Society for Parliamentary Government. He was also a founder member of the Politics Association. He has written many books for young people on modern world history.

Grade 6 Up This title provides access to a system of beliefs and way of life followed by one-sixth of the world's population. Like others in the series, it is arranged alphabetically, with quotes about Islam from other sources. Photographs are attractive and informative. The specific topic approach makes this a natural for Ready-Reference. One reservation: for reports, a maze of "see also" references must be followed; a report on women's status in Islam would necessitate consulting at least seven of the entries.
