Synopsis
When children turn the pages of this pop-up book, big, colorful numbers spring up to greet them. As each page is turned an animal appears and is joined by the creatures from the previous pages. The final spread features each number and its matching animal--now holding a jaunty surprise--hidden behind individual flaps. Full color.

More than the sum of its parts, this dynamic book promotes a variety of counting activities. Turn the pages, and oversize, vividly colored numerals from one to 10 spring from the spreads. Numbers also appear in word form as a corresponding number of animals cavorts. Creatures from earlier pages visit their pals later in the book; each animal wears a costume sporting the numeral of the spread on which it first appeared. On the last spread, numbered flaps conceal pop-ups of the animals showing off an appropriately sized assortment of objects--behind door No. 8, for example, a lop-eared rabbit in a bib marked "8" juggles eight colored spheres. A gatefold flap reinforces the counting lesson by reprising the festivities. It all adds up to good clean fun. Ages 3-6.
